As far as treatment of animals, I would like to give you more information about Cashmere’s goat in the farm, as Filati Biagioli is a member of CCMI (Cashmere and Camel Hair Manufactures Institue).
As you probably know CCMI is an industry association representing companies dealing with cashmere throughout the supply chain.
The CCMI members are not involved in the production of the fibre in the origin countries, but in the manufacturing of products made of cashmere and other noble fibres. as such they have knowledge of raw material production.
Cashmere goats form the foundation of the livelihoods of communities in areas where other activities, like farming, are not possible. Cashmere is the main source of income for herders and their families, as such, goats producing this precious fibre are carefully nurtured and highly regarded.
Through the supply chain, these same animals are the origin of thousands of jobs, within a legitimate and sustainable business.
Respectable enterprises, like the Institute's members, are disgusted by any abuses of cashmere goats, but the implicit assumption that an offence perpetrated by an individual is enough to judge all members of a community as criminals, is unacceptable and wrong.
Cashmere is warm, soft, comfortable, prestigious. Like other natural fibres is biodegradable, durable and renewable. It does not create the huge and hitherto unresolved problem of synthetics, which is microplastics contamination of the biosphere.
More than any other fibre, cashmere fits the principle of buying better quality products to consume less.
The CCMI members are among the most prestigious world leaders in this industry, sharing stringent values on sustainability and business ethics. Many have over a century of history and all have a deep knowledge about cashmere.
